“Is it time for a new dog?”
“No! Maybe. Sandy was such a good girl how can I replace her so soon?”
“Because a pet is a companion. Maybe a different color or breed.”
“Has to be a cocker spaniel, but another color is intriguing.”
I went to meet a litter that was almost ready at the breeders.
“The mom’s name is Fancy. She’s from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.”
“Looks like she got dyed in the copper mines there.”
“Yes. We named her daughter, Miss Revere, like the pans.”
“I could call her Revi; sounds more doggish. Consider her sold.”
January 4, 2018, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about Copper Country. It can be any place, fictional, historical, or on another planet. Go where the copper leads.

A lovely idea for this prompt, Susan. I thought this week’s was a bit tough.

Thanks Robbie. It’s a condensed version of two scenes in my unpublished novel.

Susan, I especially like this line as a description: “Looks like she got dyed in the copper mines there.” And I remember Revereware. Or more to the point — scrubbing the copper bottoms of the pot until they gleamed. Keep working on your WIP!

Love the story being a dog person but I get teased a lot I’m a big guy but I like little bogs when I walk my killer the smiles and grins I get with a less than 5-pound dog on a leash but I’m use to it.

I grin at big people with long steps walking little dogs whose legs look like whirling windmills. Thanks for understanding my pleasure.
